Overview
The Vaultastic Setup Connectors application is used to configure and manage connectors that enable data exchange between Vaultastic and external data sources.
Administrators can use this application to:
Configure live data ingestion flows
Generate and register API keys and credentials
Connect external data sources to Vaultastic
View, edit, or remove configured connectors
Connectors allow Vaultastic to archive data from supported platforms such as email systems, collaboration tools, cloud storage systems, and on-premises storage systems.
Supported Data Sources and Data Types
The following table provides a quick overview of supported data sources and the types of data that can be ingested.
| Data Source | Supported Data Types |
|---|---|
| Microsoft 365 | Outlook Email, OneDrive Files, SharePoint Documents, Teams Chat |
| Google Workspace | Gmail Email, Google Drive Files, Google Chat |
| IMAP Mail Servers | IMAP Email |
| Cloud Storage | AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage |
| In-prem Storage | FTP / SFTP, DataSync Agents |
Detailed configuration instructions for each connector type are provided below.
Pre-requisites
Before setting up connectors, ensure that
- You have admin access to your Vaultastic domains. Your Vaultatic login permissions allow you to update connectors for all the data sources and data types for all the domains.
- You have admin access to each source system. Your priviledges are sufficient to configure journaling/forwarding or other configurations for live mail flow. Your privileges are sufficient to generate access keys.
- When configuring connectors to on-prem systems, you have the public IP address of the systems and the firewalls are updated for connections from Vaultastic.
Accessing the Setup Connectors Application
To open the Setup Connectors application:
Log in to your Vaultastic domain using administrator credentials.
Open the Vaultasti interface.
From the left navigation menu, select Setup Connectors.
The application displays available connectors organized by data source and data type.
Selecting a Data Source and Data Type
To manage connectors for a specific source:
Use the Data Source drop-down menu in the top-right corner to select the required data source.
Available data types for that source will appear as tabs.
Select the appropriate tab to view or configure connectors for that data type.
Adding a New Connector
The process for adding a connector depends on the type of data source.
Microsoft 365, Google Workspace
Navigate to the required data type tab.
In the Action column, click Connect for the target domain.
Follow the configuration wizard to complete the connector setup.
These connectors typically involve the following steps when the data type is email:
Confirming the configuration of Live Mail archiving on the Data Source. (This is optional)
Generating API access keys to mailbox service. Note: The scope defined when generating keys determines whether you can read and/or write to the mailbox.
Registering the access credentials with Vaultastic.
For other data types such as Drive and chat data, the steps are as follows
- Generating API access keys to the service, such as Teams, GoogleChat, OneDrive, GDrive etc. Note: The scope defined when generating keys determines whether you can read and/or write using the service.
- Registering the access credentials with Vaultastic
IMAP Mail Servers
In the Action column, click Connect for the target domain.
Follow the configuration wizard to complete the connector setup.
These connectors typically involve the following steps when the data type is email:
Confirming the configuration of Live Mail archiving on the Data Source. (This is optional)
Register the IMAP Server credentials
Cloud Storage and In-prem Storage Connectors
Navigate to the required connector type.
Click New Connector in the top-right corner.
Follow the configuration wizard to complete the connector setup.
Viewing, Editing, or Deleting Connectors
Administrators can manage existing connectors using the Action column in the connector list.
| Icon | Action |
|---|---|
| 👁️ | View connector details |
| ✏️ | Edit connector configuration |
