SkyConnect + Google Workspace co-existence setup allows organizations to distribute users of a single domain across the two platforms.
In this setup, mail flow is as explained in the sections below:
Incoming & mail from GSuite users to SkyConnect users
- The MX for the domain points to the domain hosted on Google Workspace.
- Mail filtering, spam & virus protection is done on the Google Workspace setup
- Mail for users hosted on the Google Workspace setup are delivered locally
- Users on the SkyConnect servers are identified by an address list and mails for these users are routed to the subdomain hosted on the SkyConnect platform.
- SkyConnect is configured to deliver mail received on the sub domain to the primary domain setup on the SkyConnect platform.
- Using this connector, mail for users on SkyConnect sent by external users or users hosted on Google Workspace are routed to the SkyConnect platform.
Outgoing and mail flow from SkyConnect to Google Workspace users
- Mail sent by users hosted on the Google Workspace platform to any external recipients are delivered directly to the Internet.
- Mails sent by users hosted on the SkyConnect platform to any external users are delivered directly to the Internet.
- Mails sent by users hosted on the SkyConnect platform to users on the same domain hosted on Google Workspace are delivered to the MX servers of Google Workspace
