ClrStream Outbound – Quick Start Guide

This guide provides the basic steps required to set up and start using ClrStream Outbound for secure and scalable email delivery.

Overview

Getting started with ClrStream Outbound involves:

  1. Provisioning a ClrStream domain

  2. Configuring DNS authentication records

  3. Registering sender accounts

  4. Updating applications to relay email through ClrStream

  5. Warming up the sending domain

  6. Rolling out production traffic

  7. Monitoring delivery activity and reports

Step 1 – Request a ClrStream Domain

Before using ClrStream Outbound, your organization must have a provisioned ClrStream domain.

To request a new domain or manage existing domains and administrator accounts, refer to:

Manage ClrStream Domains and Users

Step 2 – Configure SPF and DKIM Records

After provisioning, the Mithi onboarding team will provide the required DNS configuration details.

Update your DNS with the following authentication records:

  • SPF Record

  • DKIM Record

These records are required to:

  • Authorize ClrStream as a valid sender

  • Improve email deliverability

  • Reduce spoofing and phishing risks

  • Improve recipient trust and inbox placement

Important:
DNS changes may take time to propagate depending on your DNS provider.

Step 3 – Register Senders

All sender email IDs must be registered before they can use ClrStream Outbound.

To add or manage registered senders, refer to:

Manage Registered Senders for ClrStream Domain

Typical sender configuration includes:

  • Sender email ID

  • SMTP or Campaign Manager access

  • Authentication method

  • Mailflow settings

  • Monthly sending limits

Step 4 – Configure Your Application

Update your application or email system to use the ClrStream SMTP service for outbound email delivery.

Typical configuration changes include:

SettingDescription
SMTP HostClrStream SMTP server
SMTP PortPort provided by onboarding team
Authentication MethodUser Authentication or IP-based authentication
Sender CredentialsRegistered sender account details

SMTP configuration details are provided during onboarding.

Step 5 – Warm Up Your Domain

Before moving to full production traffic, gradually warm up the sending domain.

Recommended Warm-Up Process

Send to Major Target Domains

Begin by sending emails to commonly used recipient domains and verify successful delivery.

Examples include:

  • Gmail

  • Microsoft 365 / Outlook

  • Yahoo

  • Corporate domains

Confirm Delivery Success

Monitor:

  • Inbox placement

  • Bounce rates

  • Deferred deliveries

  • Spam folder placement

Gradually Ramp Up Sending Volume

Increase sending volume progressively over time instead of immediately sending large email volumes.

This helps:

  • Build sender reputation

  • Improve deliverability

  • Reduce recipient-side throttling or blocking

Step 6 – Roll Out Production Traffic

Once warm-up activity is stable (typically after a week) :

  • Move production email traffic to ClrStream Outbound

  • Monitor delivery trends closely during initial rollout

  • Verify sender authentication and recipient acceptance

Step 7 – Monitor Usage and Delivery

ClrStream provides monitoring tools and operational reports to track outbound email activity.

Usage Dashboard

Use the Usage Dashboard to monitor:

  • Outbound email volume

  • Delivery trends

  • Sender activity

  • Usage statistics
